All eyes were on the women of the Trump family as they arrived for President Donald Trump's inauguration and their elegant fashion choices did not disappoint.

Melania Trump chose a powder blue prom dresses online and matching coat from designer Ralph Lauren for the day's events. The incoming first lady paired the structured jacket with pointed stilettos and leather gloves to complete the monochromatic look.

President-elect Donald Trump and his wife Melania arrives for a church service on Donald Trump's inauguration day.

With her long locks pulled back in a sophisticated bun, Mrs. Trump's look is reminscent of what Jacqueline Kennedy wore for her husband's inauguration in 1961.

The suspense surrounding what the incoming first lady would wear for the events of Inauguration Day built over the last several months as several designers spoke out saying they wouldn't be willing to dress Mrs. Trump.

Most recently, designer Tom Ford spoke about declining the opportunity. President-elect Trump responded telling Fox and Friends, "[Melania] never asked Tom Ford, doesn't like Tom Ford, doesn't like his designs ... I'm not a fan of Tom Ford, never have been."

Others, including Tommy Hilfiger, were much more welcoming to the idea. Hilfiger even telling Women's Wear Daily, "I think any designer should be proud to prom dress her."

The first daughters both chose white for the swearing in ceremony. Ivanka Trump chose an asymmetrical Oscar de la Renta white jacket and tailored white pants with black pumps. She accessorized the outfit with a small a American flag pin and black leather gloves. It was her third ensemble from the designer in the past two days.

Anniesa Hasibuan was the first Muslim and the first Indonesian designer to show the hijabs on the NY Fashion Week runway. Born in Jakarta, July 30, 1986, she is the wife of Andika Surachman, a young entrepreneur. After some time, Hasibuan began a new hobby that led her into the fashion world. Initially, she designed outfits for herself and soon began designing for close friends. In early 2015, Hasibuan ventured into the fashion world with her husband’s support. Her passion for fashion grew tremendously and very quickly.

She was eager to show her debut fashion collection on the runway in London, where her designs were welcomed warmly. To enhance her knowledge, she began taking fashion design courses there to enhance her career. Currently, Hasibuan is signed at the Indonesia Fashion Gallery in New York City. Hijabs are worn with trousers, skirts, occasion dresses, suits, kimonos, tunics and gowns. Her mix of fabrics, such as velvet with satin were remarkable. Her collection was very well received by a standing-room-only crowd. At NY Fashion Week shows held at Moynihan Station, Hasibaun’s Spring/Summer 2017 Collection was magical, yet elegant. One after another, her ensembles were rich in fabrics and color and very glamorous.

Another designer, Eva Xu, showed her collection with a theme titled “All Comes From Nothing.” Her company Toutiao x ACFN, was founded in 2014. Xu earned her BFA from Tsinghua University’s Academy of Art and Design and her MFA at the School of Art Institute of Chicago.

In Chicago, she was mentored by contemporary artist Nick Cave. After her move to New York, she worked as a designer for fashion houses such as Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren. She created her company ACFN out of the desire to create a more personal womenswear line for creative lifestyles. “All Comes From Nothing” is a contemporary line that brings artist collaboration into minimal and urban shapes. The ACFN woman creates for life. For Xu’s customers, fashion is an accomplice, not a calling card.

Renee Minus White is the author of “Maybe My Memoir,” the story of an original member of The Chantels, the famous 50s female group, who recorded the hit “Maybe.” Her book is available at Rosedogbookstore.com, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Google Play and Kindle.

What will FLOTUS be wearing alongside POTUS during the swearing-in ceremony and at the inaugural balls?

Inquisitive American minds aren’t the only ones that want to know, since fashion, musical and cultural statements made on Inauguration Day are as important as the political statements made once voters selected Donald Trump and his missus, Melania, to replace Barack and Michelle Obama.

pics:evening gowns

The Presidential Inauguration Committee has chosen three official balls to be held at two sites on Inauguration Night: the Liberty Ball and the Freedom Ball at the Washington Convention Center in central Washington, D.C., and the Salute To Our Armed Services Ball at the splendid National Building Museum in downtown.

All of the balls are black tie, of course, with men in waist coats or tuxedos, which helps to explain why for centuries all eyes turn to the gowns of the first ladies to make a fashion statement.

The site that the inaugural commission selected for armed services salute makes a statement as well.

The National Building Museum is the actual site of the former Pensions Building, a facility whose personnel and design reflected its mission, which was to provide benefits for veterans, armed servicemen and their descendents — including the very women and children who they may have left behind.

Certain - and oftentimes differing - sects of the web collided and subsequently went into a collective tailspin after parts of a rumored Louis Vuitton x Supreme collaboration leaked earlier this month. Well, as of Thursday, Louis Vuitton confirmed the collab rumors - by way of its F/W 2017 menswear runway show, for one thing, and a pre-show interview between the house's menswear director, Kim Jones and WWD.

Under the creative watch of Jones - who took the helm of Louis Vuitton's men's division in 2011 - and with the cooperation of New York-based cult skatewear brand, Supreme and its founder James Jebbia, Louis Vuitton showed a lineup of F/W looks that incorporated Supreme’s bold red and white box logo branding. “You can’t have the conversation of New York men’s wear without Supreme right now, because it’s such a massive global phenomenon,” according to Jones.

pics:uk prom dresses

Red leather duffle bags (which are expected to retail for between €1500-3000) and fanny packs (styled over the shoulder, of course) bear the famous Supreme graphic. To be exact, there are six styles of bags in the collection, including a backpack, duffle bag, messenger bag and fanny pack. They come in three different materials: red Epi leather, black Epi leather and a camouflage fabric.

Also in the mix: Scarves and bandanas that make use of both brands’ logos, and smaller leather accessories, such as LV x Supreme wallets and iPhone cases (these are said to retail around €300 and up), which were seen poking out of the pockets of denim Louis Vuitton monogram-printed shirts (something of a throwback to the denim bags that the brand showed during Marc Jacobs' tenure?).

Sure to be some of the most highly coveted items (aside from the more accessible goods, such as the key chains, pocket knives, pins, luggage tags, etc.)? The Louis Vuitton x Supreme steamer trunks and bespoke skateboards - which are bespoke and thus, not readily available for purchase, according to the brand.

The Making of a Master Collab

As for who came up with the idea for this master collaboration, one that arguably makes quite a bit of sense, given the widespread influence that high fashion brands take - especially as of late - from the street, it was actually Michael Burke, Louis Vuitton's chairman and chief executive officer. Not surprisingly, Kim Jones - a streetwear and skatewear afficiando - "didn't need much convincing," per WWD. Joining forces, he said, "was the logical response."

In fact, Jones has some personal history with the brand. “I used to work when I was at college unpacking boxes of Supreme at a company in London that distributed it when it was just starting out, so it’s something I’ve known all along in my life.”

Unlike prior Supreme collabs, this one will not be available at Supreme’s brick-and-mortar stores or online. The limited, one-off collab will be sold exclusively through Louis Vuitton stores later this year. Jones said the line designed with Supreme would go on sale at select Vuitton stores on July 17, but would probably also be available in temporary locations. “We’ll probably make separate stores in areas where both of them are popular,” he said.

Undeniably, the collaboration is somewhat surprising given Louis Vuitton’s highly protective approach when it comes to intellectual property ("IP"). As indicated by its many infringement-related lawsuits (and the notorious cease and desist letter that LV sent Supreme almost 20 year ago), Louis Vuitton very clearly does not take kindly to others – oftentimes even those within its own ranks (remember the alleged fight that former creative director Marc Jacobs had to wage in order to “deface” the brand’s monogram canvas with Stephen Sprouse’s neon graffiti) – interfering with its IP.

But Louis Vuitton - the world's most valuable luxury brand - is not your run of the mill design house and so, it follows that this would never be your average collaboration. Just as was the case with Louis Vuitton's previous collaborative projects, the Supreme one will be closely monitored, enabling the fashion house to benefit from the partnership while maintaining complete control over the variables. (The goods will be sold only through Louis Vuitton owned and operated stores, for instance). In this way, the collaboration is not all that surprising; it is certainly less surprising than if the roles were reversed and Supreme was making and selling products using the Louis Vuitton logo.

The question that still remains, though: Why? The reviews sure seem to make it seem like a bad move. The New York Times' Guy Trebly, for instance, wrote the following: "Nothing is more lethal to cred than a sellout. You may think, in the case of the Louis Vuitton collaboration with Supreme, presented under a tent at the Palais Royal on Thursday, the only victim would be Supreme, the street-style label with a rabid fan base and seemingly bulletproof cool ... Both parties appeared to take a hit in the fall 2017 collection presented by the designer Kim Jones. It was the fashion version of a murder-suicide."

Well, chances are, Louis Vuitton wants to tap – for a season or so – into the wild dedication and rabid willingness to spend that is consistently displayed by Supreme fans. These are the individuals that line up outside of the brand’s New York stores or wait with baited breath on its website once a week to “cop new shit.” They are the ones who are not interested in - let alone swayed by - critical reception of the collection. They are the epitome of a cult audience.

In this way, the collab is an easy opportunity for Louis Vuitton to sell and judging by Supreme fans, any garments and accessories it shows will sell out regardless of their prices. (Does this suggest that Louis Vuitton's current bottom line is not as stunning as it would like? Maybe. It is a difficult climate for luxury brands, after all).

Moreover, the collaboration presents Louis Vuitton with an opportunity to up its cool factor, particularly among millennials – the demographic with which every brand is consistently hoping to find favor. With this in mind, it seems that Louis Vuitton has identified a potential goldmine in this potential collaboration if it is handled properly.

As for what Supreme gets out of this, the brand gets a hefty paycheck from Louis Vuitton (in exchange for allowing the company to use its trademarks) and some high fashion bragging rights, as well.

KATIE Price puts her enhanced chest firmly in the spotlight on this week’s Lip Sync Battle as she performs a song all about BOOBS and dresses up as Dolly Parton.

A new teaser from this week’s episode shows the mum-of-five evening gowns in a leopard print top and tight trousers miming along to the Black Eyed Pea’s 2005 hit My Humps.

The performance starts with Katie in a leopard print dressing gown making herself a cup of coffee

But it’s seeing her dolled up like Dolly in cult 80s movie 9-5 that is most exciting.

In new pictures from this week’s episode, Katie wears a bright blonde wig and accentuates her enhanced bosom with a tight fuschia trouser suit.

After making a cup of coffee, and delivering them to her ‘colleagues’, she parades around with a stack of papers.

The clip shows the mum-of-five gyrating in tight leather trousers – clearly delighted with the results of her recent string of non-surgical bum lifts.

He does an energetic version of Party In The USA for his Miley Cyrus-mad youngster.

In the past Katie has been responsible for a fair few pop misses.

A duet of A Whole New World with then husband Peter Andre in 2006 was a sales disaster when 40,000 returned copies were found rotting in a barn.

Katie Price appears on Lip Sync Battle in a sexy leopard print top

Her 2010 single Free To Love Again charted at number 60.

But it was the 2005 Eurovision attempt which she calls her “biggest regret.”

Speaking on ITV2’s Safeword last year, she said: “Out of anything I’ve done in my whole career, that is my biggest regret.”

Ben Fogle is her competitor on Friday night’s show – and it looks like he really gets in to it

She added that the fact she was heavily pregnant with Junior and wearing a tight pink catsuit to sing Not Just Anybody, didn’t help.

“I was seven months’ pregnant and I looked like a pink condom.”

On Wednesday, Feb. 1, CPHS seniors will walk the catwalk at the Twin Creeks Country Club. Attendees can shop Kendra Scott's new spring jewelry line and enjoy a fashion show put on by the seniors who will be modeling Z Couture formal dresses and tuxedos.

According to Caroline Domin, volunteer for Project Graduation, Kendra Scott, Twin Creeks Country Club and Z Couture have gone above and beyond to make sure the show is set up for success.

“Z Couture is actually owned by a Cedar Park graduate, Krisitn Zreet,” Domin said. “She told us ‘have 20-25 girls come in and I will fit them for a uk prom dresses for the night.’”

Domin said there are students from “all walks of life” modeling during the show.

“There are 25 girls, six or seven guys, all from different organizations,” Domin said. “Celebrities (dance team), cheer, softball, basketball, as many as we could find representing different organizations. They are different sizes, different colors and from different activities.”

They expect about 200 attendees.

Domin said she hopes the event raises $10,000. Although entry is free, there will be many opportunities for guests to purchase things. Besides Kendra Scott’s jewelry, students who are searching for a prom dress will have the opportunity to purchase their dress during the event. Z Couture prom dresses online are registered for CPHS and other high school proms.

Gift baskets will also be available for purchase. Project Graduation volunteers said the baskets will make great Valentine’s Day gifts.

“Our total fundraising goal for this year’s Project Grad is $50,000,” Domin said.

At this point they have $20,000 for the alcohol-free and drug-free senior class party.

There will be two style shows. One will take place at 6:15 p.m. and the second at 7:30 p.m.

Project Grad is run by parents of graduating seniors and funded 100 percent by donations and fundraising. The goal is for enough money to be raised so that every graduating senior can attend the party free of charge.

After the "I dos" and post-reception, the wedding night should climax in, well, just that! (Or immediately passing out after an exhausting day and too much champagne. Either or, really.) But for Ciara and her new hubs Russell Wilson, the wedding night was extra special. In July 2015, the now-married duo announced that they were abstaining from sex until they were officially wed — a decision that drew much public criticism, in part due to the fact that Ciara was already mom to two-year-old Future Zahir Wilburn, whom she shares with her ex-fiancé rapper Future.

pics:prom dress uk

But the pair certainly got down to business after their fairytale wedding in Cheshire, England — and even shared what went down in that hotel suite via Snapchat! But if newlyweds' choice for a sexless pre-"I do" relationship still has you going "BUT WHY?!," Ciara is finally opening up on what led to her and her hubby's decision.

The R&B songstress recently sat down with Cosmopolitan South Africa and got real with the glossy about her resolution to remain abstinent until she tied the knot with her honey. It all started with a conversation with Wilson about the "intimacy part" of their romantic relationship, where the two learned that they were totally in sync.

"I have to give credit to my husband for sharing those views. It's awesome how it all worked out," said Ciara. "We women think with our hearts and with our minds. When we see a guy, we envision what he's like and whether this could be something special. Guys see us from an exterior point of view — that's something I learned along the way as a woman... You shouldn't feel like you have to give your body away to get someone to like you." Amen, sister friend.

So would "I Bet" singer still stay out of the boudoir if she had to do it all over again? You bet.

"I really believe that when you focus on a friendship, you have the opportunity to build a strong foundation for a relationship," Ciara explained. "And once you know you're really great friends and you're what we call 'equally yoked' — where you share the same values or the same outlook on life — it kind of sets the tone."

"Knowing that you'll always have the friendship and that you can always go back to it is very important, and very powerful."

Shopping for a wedding prom dress as a size 14 is no cake walk, just ask model and advocate Jennie Runk, who married the love of her life, Andria, in October 2016 while wearing a stunning, figure-hugging gown. But finding that perfect wedding dress, was no easy feat. Here, Jennie details her own less-than-perfect experience.

I’m one of the most confident people I know. But I haven’t always been confident in my own skin. Growing up, I was always taller and bigger than the girls (and most of the boys) my age. I’ve been fortunate that modeling for over the past ten years has given me the opportunity to really accept my body for everything it is: big, curvy and beautiful.

However, leaving my first wedding dress appointment — preparing for one of the happiest days of my life — I’ve almost never felt worse about my body.

Living in New York City, I expected to have seemingly unlimited options for a wedding dress. This is one of the fashion capitals of the world, right? But in going into the first bridal boutique, I was astounded to find that they had nothing that would fit me. At a size 14 (the average size of American women, by the way), I was unable to fit into the boutique’s sample sizes of 6 or 8. The saleswoman was very sweet and tried to be accommodating — putting me in bigger skirts and holding the top of a smaller dress up to my bust to get an idea for what a larger dress might look like — but ordering a dress you’ve never tried on before for one of the biggest days of your life was something I just wasn’t ready to do.

The second boutique I visited in New York was an even bigger disaster. I felt like Julia Roberts’ character in Pretty Woman. I told the saleswoman the vision I had for my dream dress and she looked me up and down and said ‘we don’t have anything like that in your size.’ I was floored. So I walked right out of there thinking to myself that she’d made a ‘Big mistake. Big. Huge.’ in not helping me.

Now, I’ve never been much of a shopper. Growing up, I was always more interested in the next Stephen King novel than going to the mall. But shopping for my wedding dress was different — I was looking forward to it! As a model, I’ve learned to be comfortable and confident in my own skin. I’m a proud plus-size woman with big, beautiful curves! But leaving two appointments not only without a gown, but without being able to try anything my size on was completely defeating. I couldn’t imagine what the other plus-size women out there were experiencing, with lower self-esteem than mine.

I was about to resign myself to ordering a gown from the first boutique. The saleswoman was very sweet and I liked the idea of what the gown would look like. But, of course, I couldn’t try it on in my size until after it was purchased. I just didn’t want to shop anymore. Any fun that was supposed to come from wedding dress shopping had been sucked out by stores failing to carry a wider selection of sample sizes. It’s not like they weren’t available; the stores just didn’t carry them.

On a trip home to Missouri, my mom and sister convinced me to try shopping again. I was not interested in putting myself in a position to feel miserable about my body again, but still wasn’t happy with the options I’d found in NYC. I finally agreed to give St. Louis shopping a try.

To my delight, Maiden Voyage Bridal in Manchester, Missouri was completely different. I described my dream dress to the saleswoman and she seemed to get it instantly. The onsite seamstress was able to open up any dress I wanted so I could actually try on the dresses to see what the final product would look like. To this day, I don’t understand why every store doesn’t do this. It seemed like just part of their process to take the sample dresses apart and then sew them back together. That’s what they’re there for, right?

With some slight tweaking and pulling together the right accessories, I fell in love with a gown and never wanted to take it off!

I’m thrilled with my wedding dress (and even spent much less money than I expected!), but getting there was such a discouraging process. The fashion industry has done such a great job of moving towards inclusivity for all sizes, but in my experience, much of the bridal industry hasn’t caught up yet. I wish designers included a larger range of sample sizes to send to bridal shops, which would have made my experience — and that of so many other women — much more positive. Just because you’re a size 14, or 22, or even a size 2, doesn’t mean that the experience of shopping for your wedding dress should be any less special than someone who fits into the sample sizes 6-8.

My advice? Call the boutiques before venturing out to see if the stores have wedding occasion dresses options in your size. Some day soon, I hope to see every bridal boutique carry a wider range of sample sizes. But until then, set yourself up for success by just calling ahead.

Jennie Runk, an American model represented by New York’s JAG Models, has graced the cover of fashion magazines and starred in H&M summer swimwear campaign. Born in Georgia and raised in Missouri, Jennie was discovered in a Petsmart while volunteering for a cat adoption service. A proud (and recently married!) member of the LGBTQ community, Jennie is passionate about inclusion and empowerment for all people. Considered plus-size by the fashion industry, Jennie will be starring in the Straight/Curve documentary where she’ll share her compelling perspective on the future of her industry.

Brown corduroy. Brown corduroy! Can you imagine a designer of international repute and unfathomable influence using such a square! idea as the foundation of a collection which is also coincident with a major media re-positioning of their company for the future? Well, yes, if that designer is Miuccia Prada, who, in a flush of late-adult-onset empathy, is experiencing the joys of simple human normalcy.

Her men’s presentation for Autumn/Winter 2017 was a love story, as in Ali MacGraw and Ryan O’Neal in scarves and cords canoodling in the 1970 movie of the same name. “At the edge of generic,” were Miuccia’s own words to describe where she found herself with her new collection. She herself was in love with the first looks in the show: the shirt, the sweater, the pair of pants, the sheer anti-fashion-ness of it all. “Deep down in my heart, that was the point,” she said.

pics:evening gowns

Simple the emotion may have been, but the motivation was complex. Miuccia was looking at a world where celebrity and money conspire to make ordinary people feel inadequate, and she wanted to mollify such feelings. It’s not people who are at fault, it’s the system. Exactly how you use fashion to express such thoughts was the challenge she set herself, and she chose to do it by elevating the ordinary, finding the hero in the everyday. “The opposite of important,” she called it.

There was, for instance, a new print process on knitwear — sweaters and socks — which looked like it might be duplicating some artist of note. But no. “Sunday artists,” said Miuccia. Ordinary guys who might display their work on the weekend in Montmartre or along the railings in Hyde Park. And these were the same guys who might wear a brown leather jacket with corduroys in a similar shade of brown or rust. Probably wearing Kickers. Resolutely average.

So this is where the strange alchemy that we know as fashion creeps into the picture. The venue for Sunday’s show was staged with beds immaculately made up with synthetic sheets and pillows. The first one we encountered on entry was red. You might imagine the accommodation in Twin Peaks’ Black Lodge offering something similar. Such a fetishised vision of domesticity hinted at a subversion of the normalcy of the clothes. So did the accessories, footwear like furry bigfoot things, and pendants, twigs and stones, pagan souvenirs plucked from the woods outside Milan.

Miuccia threw Prada’s pre-fall womenswear into the mix: Saskia de Brauw wore an angora skirt in red matched to a turquoise cardigan, also in angora. The combination, the fabrication was disturbing enough that it acted as a flagrant reminder of Westwood/McLaren’s assaults on propriety in their Sex/Seditionaries days.

And that’s how you contextualise brown corduroy. Desire is the intangible that fuels fashion. Deep down in her heart, Miuccia Prada understands that better than anyone. She proved it again on Sunday night.

What jewelry should I have in my jewelry box? I try to test the fashion boundaries and be creative, but I end up feeling like I look like a little girl playing uk prom dresses-up, and then I get frustrated that I’ve wasted my money on top of it. What is worth investing in, and what is not worth investing in?

I’m a firm believer in the fact that the jewelry you own should reflect your personal style. If you’re more classic, then your jewelry box should have gold or silver bangles, a classic charm necklace, strands of pearls and similar timeless pieces. If you’re more artsy or bohemian, then your jewelry box should be comprised of long pendant necklaces, hoop earrings, cut stone cuffs and fun jewelry that reflects your artistic taste. If you enjoy a more minimal look, then clean-line pieces like thin hoops, delicate stackable rings and even a streamlined cuff are necessities. No matter what your style, I do have a handful of accessories that every woman should own. In my “Style Secrets with Megan” video, I share these must-have pieces with you.

We are grateful to all our sponsors:

i

As far as what to invest in, fine jewelry with classic lines that suit your lifestyle and style are always a good idea. Ask yourself if you would enjoy wearing that piece on a regular basis and if you can dress it up and down. As far as costume pieces, know that they date themselves within three months to a year, so don’t invest too much in trendier pieces.

I have a pair of white jeans that I don’t want to wait until Easter to wear. Does that “no white after Labor Day” rule still apply?

This is always a hot-button topic, but one I’m really passionate about so merci beaucoup for asking! I 100% believe that you can wear your full-length white jeans all year long. The key is selecting accompanying pieces in fall or winter fabrics and colors to ensure that your white jeans don’t read “summer.” For example, wear your white jeans with a berry-colored cashmere sweater and brown booties to create a chic, winter-white look.

Lastly, know that the same rule does not apply to white pants. If you are to wear white pants in the fall or winter, they do need to be a heavier fabric and perhaps even more of a creamy white color. To see some easy-to-copy winter-white looks, check out my shoppable guide.

Megan rocks white jeans in Europe for a look that is both classic and elegant.

I’m a mom of three, and I’m constantly on the go. I hardly have time to put much thought into my wardrobe, let alone getting all the kids where they need to be. Any tips for how I can still feel put together when I don’t have much time to get ready in the morning?

Many of my clients are busy moms, so I hear this often! The number one thing you can do to streamline your morning is to do the prep work that allows for ease daily. That includes setting aside time to properly cleanse your closet of items no longer serving you. (And remember: maintenance is important too! I keep a donation bag in my closet and toss anything I know I won’t select when getting dressed daily.) The next step is “filling in the holes” with personality-driven pieces and basics. When purchasing new items, be intentional about your choices by making sure to have the right ratio of bottoms, tops, third pieces and accessories. That will allow for easy-to-mix-and-match outfits for all occasions without having to change multiple times each morning!

While you work on getting your wardrobe to a “happy place,” it’s important to always get dressed for the day, even if you are a stay-at-home mom or work from home. Get out of your athletic wear and your knock-around clothes, and put on an outfit complete with accessories to help you feel your best! Recently a client told me that by just following this simple step of getting dressed for the day, she lost 15 pounds due to the fact that she was more conscious of how her clothes felt and she started taking more pride in her self-care daily.

We are grateful to all our sponsors:

I’ve seen you call yourself a style coach, but I thought you were a stylist? What’s the difference?

That’s a fabulous question as I do many of the things that a stylist or personal shopper does, such as closet cleanses, shopping, outfit making and more. But the reason I call myself a style coach is that, years ago while working with my first clients, I realized that to get them long-lasting, sustainable and all-around fabulous results, we needed to focus on their style education. Becoming confident and comfortable with your style and wardrobe is just like learning to speak French or to play tennis. It takes time, practice and the right information! The style coaching experience that I provide my clients allows them to learn more about their authentic style in a fun way, in addition to deeper coaching around sensitive subjects such as body image as needed. You can find a wonderful and comprehensive article from StyleBlueprint on my journey to becoming a style coach and what it means to me and my clients.

I have a black-tie wedding coming up in February. Is it acceptable to wear flats? Heels just hurt my feet so badly!

Absolutely — as long as they are dressy flats! A dressy flat needs to do the same thing as an evening heel. It needs to have a more delicate look to it. Options can include a metallic peep-toe flat, a flat with a design element on the toe or even a flat with a small wedge or stacked heel. Know that stacked heel shoes are very “in,” so this is your season as this style shoe is also often comfortable and supportive. Lastly, one of my favorite shoe rules is selecting a shoe with a more almond-shaped toe. It’s more flattering and more timeless, ensuring you look stylish and black-tie appropriate at your upcoming wedding.

What’s the best brand of jeans for a woman in her 50s? I am getting increasingly frustrated with the pervasive styles that seem like they’re meant for only younger women or models. And I consider myself hip and “with it” — it’s just that my body is changing! How can I find jeans that comfortably fit my body?

First, know that you are not alone in your search for a comfy, well-fitting jean! That is often my clients’ and my first order of business when we begin our work together. One of my favorite denim brands for women in their 50s — but they can be great for all ages — is Not Your Daughters Jeans (NYDJ). These jeans typically have a higher rise and beautifully fit a curvier derrière and more defined waist. I had one client in her 50s tell me she had tried every brand of jeans, and jeans just weren’t for her. Once I introduced her to NYDJ she was an immediate convert! She now owns NYDJ jeans in a wide variety of styles and colors. But if you prefer a different brand, then look for jean styles with a rise of 9 to 10 inches to ensure they fit nicely on your silhouette.

I’m 5’2″ and love the look of over-the-knee (OTK) boots, but I’m not sure I have the vertical real estate to make them work. Will I look like I’m sitting in a large boot? Is it possible for me, a “vertically challenged” woman, to pull off an OTK boot?

Great question! I have clients ask me this quite often, as OTK boots are not only on-trend right now, but they can really elevate your look! I would say, even though you’re petite, if you consider your legs an asset, you can rock this boot style. However, it’s veryimportant to streamline the look to elongate your silhouette. You can easily do this by selecting the same color jean as your OTK boot to create a lovely vertical line. Example: black jean + black OTK boot = tres chic! If you don’t love your legs, then I would opt for ankle booties that aren’t drawing as much attention to your legs, and add a pop of interest in another area that you do love! For more tips on how to rock OTK boots, check out this great article in StyleBlueprint, where I share how to wear this boot style at any age.
